Mindfulness is becoming a common practice in today’s world. However, we do recommend that a mindfulness practice is taken in combination with mental health therapy. Mindfulness requires introspection, and a level of maturity. Mindfulness is intended to redirect the mind to be able to act with intention, awareness, and completeness, to notice patterns that do not serve your purpose, to live a more purpose filled life. The process of gaining a mindfulness practice really is two parts. One, intense awareness. Then, meaningful, intentional, choice, rather than impulsive reactivity. When first beginning to learn mindfulness, it may increase emotional flooding, bringing more awareness to intense feelings and thoughts that have been suppressed. This requires processing through with a professional therapist.
